Commissioned by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

Suitable for concert opener or grand processional. Medieval tune treated freely in more contemporary style. Tempo is mostly slow, appropriate for processional.
Familiar tunes used: "Gaudete" from Piae Cantiones (1582), "O Come, All Ye Faithful" (instrumental motif only)

Quiet opening with solo trumpet ("O Come, All Ye Faithful" motif) building quickly into gigantic orchestral climax and dramatic, abrupt entry of full chorus; choral segment, then instrumental interlude allowing for movement (processional); choir rejoins, piece builds to massive and glorious conclusion.
